Now introducing the Nazha/Nataku of Gods of Honor. I'm thinking they wanted to represent his Earth years age here. Personally, I think this version is the *MOST* unattractive, but hey, that's just me. The show's kinda messed up too. It's more different than all the other versions combined.
First of all, they made Nataku a pansy! He like, seeks the love of his father. His father's a lot nicer, which I suppose is okay, but he has a real witch for an aunt and he's a little annoying brat wimp. I mean, he runs around the house causing havoc by picking up things and being a regular annoying kid when he's younger and comes begging for his father's love by traveling miles through rain and other elements to give him two buns he stole from a temple. O.o In additon to that, he wasn't killed or taken in by any master at first either. Someone had a premonition that Nataku would one day attack the Emperor, so they asked Li Sei to kill him, but he was abandoned instead. I liked the sugary heroic killing of the dragon better than this.
Also, as Nataku grew up in the wilderness, he found Youzen and Raishinshi ALSO growing up in the wilds. o.O Now that's just messed up! So messed that I only wanted to watch like two or three episodes because I couldn't bear to see anymore of what they did to the story.
Other changes include Nataku's brothers. They have minor roles in the story and they're FAT. Of course there's nothing wrong with that, but technically speaking, isn't that already a bit out of character? Are they trying to portray Nataku as the black sheep by saying that his family starved him and spoiled his brothers by feeding them a lot?
One thing I have to admit that I did like though was that his mother was a kind and caring person here too. ^-^ She didn't want to abandon her son and wasn't even told of it. I also liked that they had a boy play him when he was younger and a man play him when he was older. In other portrayals via television and plays, they usually have him portrayed by a young woman. Apparently, girls make better youthful boys than actual boys do. *shruggles* This is a very traditional and common occurence though. So much so that when I asked my classmate if he knew Nataku, he forgot for a moment that he was actually male.
For more info on this show, go to TVB's website for it. It's in Chinese though, so you're gonna haveta fight to figure out what everything is.
